Physics in Films is a course that was developed out of my frustrution that the interest and understanding of science among non-science college students (and, more generally, people of all ages) has declined severely and reached an alarmingly low level. The idea was that we should recognize the changing social conditions that permeat the students' lives and, more specifically, the fact that today people spend more time in front of the TV and the big screen than inside the classroms. Although, the latter is an alarming trend, we cannot ignore it. And, instead of dismish the Hollywood as an activity for lazy people and allow it to have an unchallenged influence on the minds of people, we can turn the issue around and use it as a great educational vehicle for science. This happened several years ago. Since then the focus of the course has expanded to many topics and its popularity has grown beyond any bound. It has made headdlines around the world. Many people have praised it. Many other people have cursed me since I challenge their narrow-minded world view. I support a scientific interpretation of the world, free of suprstituous and supernatural explanations. Any other point of view is not supported by science. This website contains some of the material I have used in my course and talks to educate the students and the general public. Read and feel free to praise or curse me. Of course, I hope that you belong in the former group.
